Emily was introduced to the Piano from an early age by her mother, a Piano teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience.
She made her way through the grades and has taught the Piano in various settings, including primary and secondary schools and private teaching. Pupils range from 4 years old to adults.
Emily also has experience of working with adults and children with additional needs and various learning methods and styles. She believes it is vital to work with the individual to create a tailored lesson.
Emily enjoys exploring a range of genres such as classical, baroque, jazz, folk and pop music.
She has used the Alfred series for both children and adults and finds it's ethos a fantastic base for her teaching.
The Piano also introduced Emily to discipline and challenges within practise as well as being able to accompany her singing practise!
Her actor musicianship training was rich in improvisation and composition training. This consisted of experimenting with improvisation in response to the on stage action which strengthened her creativity within her composition.
